Becoming a host family.
Are you interested? If you are interested in hosting an exchange student, please contact your local Rotary club for more information. The counselor’s office at the local high school can likely provide you with a contact name and phone number. You can also send an email expressing your interest in hosting a student to the person in charge of the youth exchange program for your Rotary District. To identify that person, click here to go to the “RYEMT map“ page. You may also send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to request this contact information.
Application Process: Applying to be a host family consists of the following four step process:
- Complete a host family application form and return it to your local Rotary club. An example application form can be found here [host family application form].
- The local Rotary club will process the application form, which will include obtaining a criminal background check for all persons 18 years or older in the host family.
- A Rotarian will interview all members of the host family in their home regarding the application as well as inspect the bedroom for the exchange student and the house in general to ensure adequate facilities.
- After approval, each approved host family receives an orientation regarding program information.
Thank you so much for your interest to provide an exchange student an opportunity of a lifetime through the Rotary youth exchange program.
